Gauge cluster problems

I have a 04 vp coupe and i jsut bought a 03-05 ex gauge cluster...the one with the tach on the left, spedo in middle and fuel/temp on the right. It is red and with blue rings and has the silver rings around the gauges. I just put it in and i get nothing! WTF I thought the 03-05 worked in the ****ing 04. Im really pissed right now and was wondering if anyone can help. THe weird part is i have to trun the green and blue clips around so that they will go in the slots its reallly strange.

So i just called honda and they say that the cluster wont work cause they are run by the ecu and only the ex ecu can run that cluster. LOL here is his comment "you would a ex ecu and those are over 1000 dollars." then he goes why dont you just buy a sunpro tach and screw it on to the a pillar....my repsonce "because that is very unclean and rice sir. WTF i know other ppl that have swaped gauge clusters before on 7thgens.

I also asked him if i could rewire the clips to make it work and he said that will not work either. Someone please help.

If I'm not mistaken, the vp has the same cluster as the older 01-02 civics. That's why it won't work. So you just have to rewire it.

I doubt you'll need an EX ECU... I bet it's just some wiring you have to figure out.

Kazall's put an RSX cluster and now an S2000 cluster in our car. I doubt he has ECU's from both cars to make it work.

The plug wiring is different. The diagram is posted here somewhere. You just have to re-pin the 2 plugs to use that cluster. It's not difficult if you print out the diagram and just take your time.
