Heat shield
pon...your exhaust is hotter than the air passed through your radiator. It would actually cool down your exhaust. Just let it die guys, if you think it cools down your bay more power to you.

I agree, let it die... But I do disagree that it wouldn't be a real world test, that's the difference b/w undergrad work (they make alot of assumputions so the get a general idea of what is going on and simplify the problem) and grad work (we don't get to make those assumputions). I could probably get close to the actual heat transfer rates and all that, but this isn't worth my time for the 2-3 hours it will take me to look up all the coeficients plus call Honda to find out what kind of metals are used and all that.
If you think it protect your hood, your air filter or your radiator, good job. The only reason I jumped in is becasue I hate it when people try to flame other for asking simething, I even hate it more when they don't back their reason up with anything.
My .02 is that it keeps the exsuaghst hotter for the catalyst to work better, but it will still work if you take it off (just that the "warm up period" for the catalyts will take longer and you'll pollute more when you start you car), if that's not issue for you, thent take it off. If I'm wrong, oh well, it's a moot point, this thread is dead.
