DIY front strut tower bar?

as you probably know with my DIY intake, i like saving money and making things for my car instead of buying them. yeah im a cheap @ss but what the hey, its fun to make stuff

my friend with an integra GS was gonna make a trunk brace out of a aluminum bar (like a rod except its a cubical rod that is hollow) and bolt each side to either side of the trunk floor where some suspension parts are.

could you do the same and use that piece of aluminum to make a front strut tower bar?

It's been done before, they welded hollow steel rods to the strut tower area. made their own front struts... not sure how it handled but it was done before.

It could be done but the only forseeable problem with it is intake clearance issues. Most bars either rise up off of the strut towers and then go across or curve around the intake. Braces made out of tubing would be better suited for other areas of the car such as the rear and middle.

You could go RSX style and fabricate a bar that bolts onto the firewall as well as the strut tower bolts. That way your design would clear any kind of intake you wanted to put in (assuming your current intake design mimics the AEM/Injen/K&N)
