removing shifter console?
Hey people, I wanted to paint the silver trim that goes around my auto trans shifter. It's the piece that has holes in it for the P, R, N, etc indicators. How does it come out? Thanks.
To remove the whole thing, there are 6 screws. two are located behind the seats towards the floor, you have to move the seats up to see them and unscrew them. Then two are located under the second part of the center concol. To get to them you have to open the little slider thing, next to the e-brake. You have to pull up on it. It might be hard to pull the first time, but after that, its easier. Then there are two screws at the front of the concol. To get them off you have to put your hand behind the concol and feel for the end of the screw. Once you do that, you need to put your finger inside the little openning, you can feel it, and push towards you. After that you can pull the concol up. At least for the manual you can. Im not sure if there are any other thing you have to do. Ill check later if you have any questions.
There maight be something to do with the shifter. Look for a screw or something to take the shifter off. The concol has to fit over that to put on and off.
