pinging - help!

Hi, I just slapped on the Mugen N1 ECU for my EP3, but noticed pinging beginning from 3000rpm on. So I changed the plugs to heat rating 8 ones. It's still happening, albeit the pinging starts a little higher up the rev now, but still occurs past 6000rpm.

What's next? Will a less restrictive exhaust system help?

Thanks a mil.

Well I just looked at King's webpage, I didn't see anything about an N1 ECU for the new EP3. But I'm willing to gamble that if there is one... is for the CTR, meaning the ECU is for a K20A2. That would explain the problem. The ECU is thinking 8000 RPM redline, VTEC and VTC on both intake and exhaust and higher compression all of which your engine is trying to do, but can't.
I would take it out and put the stock one back in. I think its probably playing games with the engine since nothing matches.
