Click/Ping At Low Speed
Click/Ping At Low Speed
I have an 03 civic that has recently developed this problem whereby when slightly pressing the accelerator when traveling at around 40km/hr causes this sort of click/ping. It doesn't sound quite like an octane starvation sort-of ping, so I don't think it is that sort of problem. A friend of mine has an 04 with exactly the same symptom. I took the service manager at Honda for a spin to demonstrate the problem and he told me it doesn't sound like a huge problem.
One thing I've noticed is that when the A/C is running it does seem to happen more often.
Anyone ever have such an issue??
Thanks!!!

Re: Click/Ping At Low Speed
idk, my car does it too a constant tick tick tick sound like i have something in my tire lol. idk what it could be. and its louder if i drive next to a wall and it echoes.
Re: Click/Ping At Low Speed
I'm fairly certain that this is the A/C. We had a really hot day today and was running the A/C continuously and the noise got much worse. I'm going to go pop back to Honda and see what they have to say now. Mine was making the noise to a lesser extent for 3-4 months until today.
Re: Click/Ping At Low Speed
If it is a LX or DX model and has about 100k miles, then I would say it is an exhaust manifold crack or leak. My vehicle made a ticking sound like valves or metal on metal from quick acceleration within the range of 2k-3k rpm.

I need to order a new manifold. So expensive for a part that last only 100k.
