Rep Power: 0 96 civic engine ping/ rattle when accelerating
Hello all
I have a 96 honda civic with a D16Y5 SOHC, when ever I accelerate the enging pings/ rattles a lot I've tried using higher octane fuels and it pings a little less but still pings I was wondering what can I do to stop it, the engine also miss fires at time
-engine done 450,000km
-stock engine
- drinks oil

Re: 96 civic engine ping/ rattle when accelerating
Hi,
I've just discovered origin of pinging on Hondas !!!
I wouldn't like to describe the picture of accelerating but it comes from the dirty fuel pump. The engine doesn't receive enough gas to create required rpms for shifting gears from higher to lower. that's why use SEAFOAM to clean injectors and fuel pump filter. High octane gas doesn't help. Use 87 + 1/2 of seafoam bottle, iridium or laser iridium spark plugs and the problem is solved !!!
thank you
