Holy Honda Repair

I would really appreciate any help since I know nothing about repairs and associated costs. I own a 2002 Honda Civic and hit a curb in a construction zone. Also had a few more issues to fix. My mechanic replaced front right control arm, ball joint, spindle, strut, rebuilt alternator, new delco battery. He welded my broken hood latch, replaced the heater switch, installed one tire and changed my oil. The total billed was $1500.00. He did say he did the front end with used parts. I almost fainted! We deal in cash only. Does this seem like a fair price? Thank you for your help.

Re: Holy Honda Repair

Large expense basics:

Even without knowing anything about what happened or what repairs were made.....

If you agreed to the estimated price before repairs, and the shop kept the price within 10% of that estimate, then the deal is legitimate.

If there was no estimate and you just gave them a blank cheque without knowing ahead of time how much it was going to cost, that's your fault.

For anything else to do with the price vs. the list of the work done, you need to have the itemized bill broken down by each job with parts and labor costs separated.
