ahhhh, damn these cheap e-bay intakes!!! haha, so i ignored everyone that said to buy a name-brand SRI and ended up buying one off e-bay instead . anyway, after spending a ridiculously long time installing it, i found out that it doesn't completely clear the hood . when i close it, the intake hits the skeleton/frame/whatever of the hood (though it still closes). haha , i went the ghetto way and hammered the intake pipe a bit, but it still hits a little. pretty stupid, i know, but i wasn't about to go through the trouble of putting the stock intake on again. aaaaaanyway, anyone have any ideas on how to get some distance between the intake and hood? thanks, appreciate it

Rep Power: 428 honestly I would throw that ebay intake away and get a aem or injen intake, I dont think anyone has ever had any problems with them clearing their hood.

Rep Power: 343 hmm i dont see how that'll hit the hood..
try adjusting it a bit... like, dont tighten the clamps on the rubber adapter and move it around a bit...
or maybe the adapter is too long, try cutting it or shaving it.. so you can adjust the pipe's position.
i haven't heard any serious fitment problem with the ebay intakes up till now.
you do have the er.. pipe to the right place right? heh. ie: the opening for the air temp sensor side should be on top of the throttle body.
you should have went with this one.. looks like it'll fit better:

Rep Power: 314 you might want to consider cutting the hose on the throttle body a little, but if it was anything like the one i got a while ago, then you will have problems getting the air temp sensor in there because its too far to get into the hole... what i did for the longest time was got a cold air intake, and just ran it without the lower part... sri.. but it isnt as wide as that one...

Rep Power: 0 I got the "super intake", that takes air from the front. I still need to bend the mounting bracket so its secure, but a pretty good use of $75. And it looks cool :P

Rep Power: 0 I got the injen knock off one and it seems to work fine. i had to fit a part for the tube that comes off the valve cover to the intake and i had to buy some o rings to fit the (i think its an o2 sensor that goes into the intake throttle body) sensor and make it fit tight paid 4 bucks for both to make it fit right. now I just got astrut bar from ebay and it taps on the intake with engine vibration so i have to mess with it some more. I will let you know how it turns out. BTW I must have not seen it but ..... Do we have a pcv valve in our cars?

Rep Power: 0 i dunno about the valve, but about the rubbing...my intake came with two little (2 by 4 inches?) adhesive strips that are a little padded sort of. I really have to idea what they're for, but when I get an ebay strut bar, I'm going to stick them to my intake tube to keep it from scratching. THats what I would recommend; just stick something soft inbetween them.

Rep Power: 350 you sure you didn't put it in backwards, also im sure it was mentioned but i was too lazy to read alll of that. you can cut the rubber to lower the intake a little bit.

Rep Power: 0 you mean like with the filter on the wrong end and the wrong end on the throttle body? hehe, i'm pretty sure it's right, cuz if i did it the other way there's no way the o2 sensor would have fit in...
i'll try the rubber thing

Rep Power: 0 i am sure i didnt put it in back wards ther is ony one way to put it in and it to fit in the engine compartment. it just stands a little proud i may just cut the rubber that makes it fit the throttle body... if any one had difficulty getting the sensor in just go to a hardware store and buy some little o rings ( about 7 or so little orings) and fit them on the sensor and that will tighten up the fitment of the sensor... what about that pcv? any one anyone Buehler anyone.

Rep Power: 0 thanks smart ***....... I dont see the point of paying 5 to 10 times more for a similar item... i defy you to show me how my injen knock off is 5 to 10 times worse than the name brand item they both are basically the same thing except that i may have to fiddle with mine during the installation a little more than if I bought a name brand item but if i remember correctly I ACTUALLY ENJOY MESSING WITH MY CAR!!!!
