So Are 7440's illegal?
are they illegal, ive seen a ton of forums on it and in each of them people 'guessed' if they were legal or not, there were an even amount of yesses and no's....
i just got my black housed headlights and i needed amber bulbs, xcept i couldn't find 7443 ambers ANYWHERE, so i decided on getting the 7440s
A.are they illegal to no have the amber on at night, since the 7440s are only blinkers
B.anyone have a pic of how their car looks at night with 7440s installed in the corners

If you've got the amber corners in there, you should still be good. It has nothing to do with the signals not being on all the time... cuz a lot of cars have them like that (VWs for sure only come on when you want to turn, but they do have a light up reflector on the corner of the bumper) I think you would have to find a super picky cop. If you had sidemarkers put in and they were on all the time, those would cover your *** if you really wanted the signals off.

true about cars that dont have them on all the time, thast what i was just thinking of, especially those new cars with the super bright hids, u cant even tell they have amber bulbs even if they do have them, let alone reflectors, .... o well, worst comes to worst ill tell the cop i 'blew a fuse' or something

I got hyper white bulbs for all my lights turn park and head lights and i got clear headlights but what saves me is i installed some JDM side markers and there amber so cops never give me trouble cause i still have a amber blinker it may not be on the headlight but i got one.
But the jettas have the same thing clear healdights and amber side markers so i gues im legal . without the side markers i think i would be illegal

i have 7443 that i fixed not to light up w/ the other lights, just blink. they are amber and ive never had a problem with them not being on with the rest of the lights. i have cleared lights too, so no amber reflector. but the bulb is still orange so maybe thats why.
the law says nothing about it being on or off, at least in NJ. all it says is that the lights cant be certain colors (blue, red, green). if they blink, thats all they need to do. theyre called "blinkers" afterall.
im not sure if i have pix of the lights at night, lit up...but if i do theyd be in my members rides.
