Unhappy crank sensor bad... again!

i have a question for you guys... i have an 01 honda civic lx 5spd. its been very good to me since day one (original owner) until i had this crank sensor problem about 6 months ago. i replaced the sensor- and everything was ok until now. i just did an oil change, and i noticed that the wire going to the sensor was out of its clip (attached to lower timing cover) i pressed the wire into the clip.. upon starting my car i got a check engine light.. its the sensor again!!! it was a hell of a job getting that sensor out and i really dont wanna get into again unless i have to! i took the wire out of its clip and moved it around a bit hoping that its a wiring problem.. no help. i saw a video on testing the sensor with a meter , im going to try to do that tomorrow.. last time i replaced the sensor i cleaned up the terminals before i replaced it, but it didnt help. i guess the next step to take if the sensor fails the meter test is to maybe replace the wire going to the sensor.. what do you think? how can it be that this new $90 part failed so soon? im tempted by this ebay sensor if i end up having to get one: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/HONDA-CIVIC-CRANK-ANGLE-SENSOR-01-05-1-7-CRANK-SENSOR-_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQhashZitem41498ed08dQQitemZ28040 6970509QQptZMotorsQ5fCarQ5fTruckQ5fPartsQ5fAccesso ries

thanks!

Depends where you ordered the sensor from. I ordered a catalytic converter and 2 - 02 sensors a while back and all but one sensor worked..Failed catalytic in one week ; got ripped off supreme style. Get bosch sensors only .. the one working one i did get is currently giving me problems as well...

Test it dude. If you see the video for how to do it , why aren't you doing it? Do the voltmeter test and if it checks out its obviously not the sensor...

Re: crank sensor bad... again!

had finals this week, t'was rough! thanks for responses, i figured it out. one of the three pins on the connector had a lot of green corrosion on it. i took a tiny nail file and cleaned it up on both ends. works fine now! phew! i barely got my hands dirty on that one, no sweat

every time i have a little problem like this i think to myself- man i should fix it and get rid of it before i get another headache.. but i always talk myself out of it! the cars out there in my price range are just too ugly or just not good lookin enough for me to jump on anyway
