Just to let all my honda family know in north carolina apparently they have passed a new law that states any advance auto or autozone or any thereof caught reseting the check engine light on our cars will be fined $10,000.00, just another way for good ol north carolina to stick it to the working man, they now want you to carry the car to the shop and have them reset it, thanks to the great people on the forums i removed the ground wire and reset the light, thanks again guys just thought i would share this information ive found today.

haha wow. well even easier, you could always invest in one of those $30 ebay code readers from c-tools. you just plug it in and it reads and erases codes. i keep it in the glove box all the time.

Or if you take it to autozone and "rent" the scanner from them- usually just barrow it and bring it to your car in the lot to read the codes you can reset it... there doesnt seem anything illegal with that because they are not actually doing it.

i wonder if thats what is meant? cause when i worked at advance they were saying technically we werent allowed to code scan cars because if something went wrong somehow, the store would be responsible.

well they still sell them he said i could buy one and reset the codes but i just couldnt get over spending $60.00+tax to reset one code that i knowed what it was for, the code was for the vss on the transmission, i found bad terminal pins in the connector and repaired them, i work at freightliner and one of the guys told me they are doing that to stop people from resetting there engine light and driving it to an inspection station getting it passed and getting a sticker because some codes will not show up that fast, he said actually the inspector should let the truck or car warm up 20 minutes in the shop and then test drive it then check the obd2 codes, i said with the way gas is i would be pissed if he left my vehicle idle for 20 minutes and then went on a joy ride, he said thats why they dont follow the rules. Ol well i was thinking about ebay and there scan tools i will eventually get one but not right now. Thanks members!

Do what? I have to run by Autozone tonight and return some stuff and I'm going to ask about this. I bought a scanner myself and always carry it in the car, but that's some crap for people who don't own one.
