removing severely rusted bolt?

Today I was taking my airfilter off to get to the inside of my throttle assembly to give it a clean. One of the bolts on the Airfilter box is really heavily corroded, to the point where it doesn't really even look like a bolt anymore (Oddly, theres very little rust elsewhere) so, it was impossible to get a socket on it to remove it. Is there anyway I can remove this bolt, possibly without damaging the hole, so as I can get a replacement in there?

Regards,
Vertigo J

Those holes are crappy- they screw into plastic and strip easy. Your best bet, depending on the location of it and if its accessible, is to remove the bolt by any means necessary (probably drill out the center of it and use a reverse thread to take it out), and use a longer bolt with a nut to hold it all together afterwards.

Re: removing severely rusted bolt?

my best advice is to spray a **** load of WD-40 on it like 2 or 3 times... it will remove some of the rust and hopefully enough to get the bolt off... make sure you soak it
