The SRS light on my 97 civic came on by itself. Can pulling on the seat belt hard cause the light to come on. Is there a way to reset without going to the dealer

Thanks?

Is it constantly staying on now, or only coming on sometimes?

You could unscrew the bulb in the light. (inside the electrcial panel or the fuse)

Or you could just disregard it as a fallacious warning light.

Will stress on the seat belts trigger airbags?

I'm not sure but I read somewhere on H-T you can relay that light using a pin. but youd have to go there for the diy..

My check engine lights been on for about 6 months now.. lol.. I dont even know it's there anymore..

But if you really do care for your saftey or something.. maybe it's telling you something is wrong with your airbag setup.. just a thought....

Smile SRS Reset

The SRS light on my 98 CR-V came on. I found instructions for resetting it at the following link:

http://www.geocities.com/myintegra96/srs.html

I followed the instructions, and it work perfectly. I printed out the instructions for future use. When you go to this link, you will notice these instructions are good for several vehicles, including 97 Civic.

I used speaker wire as a jumper. That way you can use a piece long enough to hook up and also view the dash while resetting.

I would try to unhook the battery for a half hour to see if it goes off otherwise you can take out the gauge cluster and take out the bulb...

As long as your belts are working and you're not married to your probably faulty air bag(s), then leave it alone.

However the SRS could be an early sign that your alternator is going.
