Re: Best Gas Mileage on ur civic ?

please do not come here with that crap anymore. We've all heard it before and it is total nonsense. I don't want noobs here trying it and getting in a wreck or popping their tires. Tire pressure is determined by the car manufacturer, NOT the tire company. Look in your owners manual if you still have it. Meanwhile, i'll continue to get 42mpg without overinflating my tires and laugh at anyone who spends thousands more on a hybrid just to get a small fuel economy increase. Which btw will not even make up for all the extra money you spent on the car until maybe 15 yrs later. Not to mention your battery packs are bad for the environment as it is, but i wont even get into that. You do have a hybrid right? those forums you posted make it pretty obvious. Anyway, i doubt anyone here is stupid enough to even give your posts a second thought.

Oops.
You forgot to read.

I drive an '89 Volvo 240.
Don't want a hybrid.
For the same reasons you posted.

I thought a non-hybrid Civic might be a good idea for my next car, but you might convince me otherwise. Doing a good job so far.

Re: Best Gas Mileage on ur civic ?

03 Civic EX
Manual Trans.
Average/city: 39-42mpg Best: 45.9mpg
Average/Highway : 41mpg Best: 46.3

Note: I also shift around 2 grand all the time and I coast like crazy. I/H/E and pulleys really does help with this also. Also Royal purple Tranny fluid seemed to help a little...

Re: Best Gas Mileage on ur civic ?

Yo gearbox.......

http://www.officer.com/article/artic...on=19&id=27281

Take it from an autoXer, mechanical engineer, and someone who spent 4 years on a formula 1000 team. Take it from someone who took a college class called "race car vehicle dynamics", take it from someone who knows, not "gearbox".....

Put as much tire pressure as possible in your tires, go to the max sidewall rating, there are many pros and not many cons.......lower pressure really only has one advantage: more ride compliance(read: softer ride).

Re: Best Gas Mileage on ur civic ?

ya ive read that before, some correct and alot of wrong information. and none of the cars on the road even qualify for any of that. they are driven by normal people, not race car drivers. as far as i know, auto-x is not happening on public roads. if i can use the recommended 30psi from honda and have my car ride like a cadillac with the tires lasting 50k+ miles and getting 42mpg, why in the hell would i overinflate them?

Re: Best Gas Mileage on ur civic ?

easy way is fill up a full tank, reset the trip meter, then when gas light comes on, fill tank again and see how much gas you added. take total miles divided by gallons you pumped.

97 Civic Coupe DX
Manual Trans.
126K+ on the odometer

Just took a trip on I-5 in California, 75-80 MPH, A/C on for 80% of the time.

Got 35 MPG.

Does anyone remember $1 a gallon gas? (it was just 6 years ago!)
