Re: Best Gas Mileage on ur civic ?
I got an 02 Civic EX and 90% highway I get 37-42 mpg. Winter is 37-38 and summer is 40-42. that is doing like 62-65 mph too. I love it, beats filling up my Envoy for $50 a tank!!

I have:
04 Civic EX
My best mileage:
40 miles to the gallon, but most of the gas was used on a trip that took me from my home at about 4000 feet from sea level, to my cousins home at sea level. So I could have probably coasted all the way there, lol.

k20a2 swapped, i've went 400 miles on a tank. 41mpg was the best I ever got. I keep the air filter clean, always change the oil right around 3000, and I don't really drive in much stop and go traffic. Nothing in the trunk but my battery, and I'm usually the only person in the car. Usually average 33-35mpg and I bet when I get new tires that aren't bald I'll average a little higher.

I have an 01 Lx manny and the most I've ever gotten was 450 miles on a full tank. But seen about 380 in the summer and a low of 330. But after putting the that bs azz tsi setup with the 2 extra fuel injectors I was only getting like 220 on a full tank and guess what my ish is ucked up now. My car burns gas, coolant and oil. My advice don't get the tsi. Now thats another $3k+ that I have to spend.

This is an email I received the other day. We (the company I work for) was looking for a consultant with regards to our fleet of trucks and trying to decrease the fuel bills...aren't we all. I left the authors name off of it so that neither he nor I get in trouble.
I've been in petroleum pipeline business for about 31 years, currently working for the Kinder-Morgan Pipeline here in San Jose , CA .. We deliver about 4 million gallons in a 24-hour period from the pipe line; one day it's diesel, the next day it's jet fuel and gasoline. We have 34 storage tanks here with a total capacity of 16,800,000 gallons. Here are some tricks to help you get your money's worth:
1. Fill up your car or truck in the morning when the temperature is still cool. Remember that all service stations have their storage tanks buried below ground; and the colder the ground, the denser the gasoline. When it gets warmer gasoline expands, so if you're filling up in the afternoon or in the evening, what should be a gallon is not exactly a gallon. In the petroleum business, the specific gravity and temperature of the fuel (gasoline, diesel, jet fuel, ethanol and other petroleum products) are significant. Every truckload that we load is temperature-compensated so that the indicated gallonage is actually the amount pumped. A one-degree rise in temperature is a big deal for businesses, but service stations don't have temperature compensation at their pumps.
2. If a tanker truck is filling the station's tank at the time you want to buy gas, do not fill up; most likely dirt and sludge in the tank is being stirred up when gas is being delivered, and you might be transferring that dirt from the bottom of their tank into your car's tank.
3. Fill up when your gas tank is half-full (or half-empty), because the more gas you have in your tank the less air there is and gasoline evaporates rapidly, especially when it's warm. (Gasoline storage tanks have an internal floating 'roof' membrane to act as a barrier between the gas and the atmosphere, thereby minimizing evaporation.)
4. If you look at the trigger you'll see that it has three delivery settings: slow, medium and high. When you're filling up do not squeeze the trigger of the nozzle to the high setting. You should be pumping at the slow setting, thereby minimizing vapors created while you are pumping. Hoses at the pump are corrugated; the corrugations act as a return path for vapor recovery from gas that already has been metered. If you are pumping at the high setting, the agitated gasoline contains more vapor, which is being sucked back into the underground tank, so you're getting less gas for your money. Hope this will help ease your 'pain at the pump'

Ya wanna learn about fuel economy, pay a visit to gassavers.org
City driving will drive down your mpg.
Short trips will also drive it down because you burn mucho gas just getting things warmed up.
Best single thing most drivers can do for their mpg is to pump up the tires to whatever is spec'd on the sidewall. Most modern tires = 44 psi but read yours carefully.
Higher pressure = less flexing of the rubber = lower rolling resistance. No deformation or bad wear problems, because the steel belts keep things in shape. In fact the tires will last longer than if set at 5-10 lb less than the max sidewall spec.
My ancient '89 Volvo is EPA rated 19/22. I get about 29 mpg highway these days (55-75 degrees outside temps) - so I'm not just blowing smoke. I commute 600-650 miles/week.
Why am I here? Next car I get, I want more mpg at faster speeds - so maybe Civic is in my future. My Volvo is still going strong though.

NEVER inflate ur tires to the sidewall indicated pressure, that is the maximum safe pressure for that tire, and will cause ur tires to wear out prematurely because of contact patch, auto manufacturers dont just set pressures *****-nilly, there is actual research there, while it will increase ur gas mileage slightly, it will do more damage than harm, especially during a blow-out(if u ever have one). steel belts do hold things in place, but only to a certain degree, beleive me, ive been working with tires for 5 years now, and ive seen it all, it wears the center out much more quickly, and 44psi will make for a horrible ride compared to the 30psi that our cars are supposed to run.

lol! and i have lubecontrol products. I think i just drive too aggressively in the city. accelerating uses alot of gas and if you do it 20 times in one trip thats alot of gas used. my advice, keep the recommended tire pressure or maybe a bit over, i like 32psi cause then you can wait longer to check it again. use lubecontrol.com products, well thats about it really. and the obvious, clean air filter, plugs, etc.
