mike04civic: if your askin me i got it thro Civicmexicano(hope i spelled it right) way bak for i believe $250 w/ stock tc. i think the kit is about $300-$400 for the kit and $400 to upgrade your tc. you can go to level tens website nd they have prices. www.levelten.com

I paid 218 Shipped from http://www.lonestarracing.com/cgi-bi...CI-559100.html

Is your 04 tranny starting to slip? I would call TCI and ask them if it will fit your tranny.

I am not familiar with the TCI torque converter because I am not going to be putting it in this car since my gf doesn’t really care... she just doesn’t want it to feel like its breaking anymore HAHA

i just did another fluid change and it felt better again. it only lasts for a few thousand miles tho and then goes back to shifting harder and all the suckiness. i remember a mechanic saying the fluid should be changed with every oil change and that it needed a cooler and external filter to operate properly. im like great why couldnt honda do this. so far ive been trying to change fluid every 10k, it seems like enough but remember its barely only 3 quarts and that is maybe 1/3 of the total fluid. i feel like i should be doing it more often even like every 5k. the fluid is only $25 and its maybe an hour or two job if you work slow. hardest part is driving it around and adding fluid once its warm.

It seems that you would probably benifit from the external filter if your fluid gets bad that fast. I will post pics of the filter + cooler install this weekend. Im hoping with the filter I wont feel bad leaving the fluid in there 15k miles. (I was doing 10k changes too)

also when i went to clean the drain bolt, there was alot of black sludge on the magnet that i wiped off. looked like liquid metal almost. and thats after i put some LC20 in there. usually the plug is pretty clean so maybe i got some of the gunk outta there.

My favorite auto tranny was the Jatco 3n71b. Put almost 300k on it, a breeze to rebuild, and built like a russian tank. And it ONLY needed the clutches replaced. That would have been my Mazda RX2. And to top it off, I drove it like I stole it every day.

After looking at the pics of the civic tranny.... no wonder.... the clutches are TINY.

well it doesnt really matter. actually i threw away my box so idk which one i even have, just get a smaller one. mine looks exactly like the one posted above. you can get a bigger size but just make sure its not any thicker than about an inch or so. if they even make thicker ones. its a B&M supercooler that i bought of enprocesso.

The one I got is actually 1.5" thick but I’m going to be putting it in front of the AC condenser so I’m not concerned.

Pretty much the same way Boiler put his engine oil cooler.

i can probably put it there because i have that billet aluminum lower grille on my aero kit. So basically your saying any cooler that is around 1-1.5" thick and length doesnt matter will fit?

I don’t know if you would want or need to go that much bigger. Our car is small so the transmission doesn’t make as much heat as larger heavier cars. If it’s too big I would think that the transmission would never get to optimal operating temps.

The filter and cooler are installed after about 3 Hrs of work and 2 trips to Autozone. Even though it looks like the hose is rubbing going from the filter to the cooler, it has about 1" of clearance all around it. I also had to buy a bunch of fittings just to get a 90 degree 3/8" hose barb going from the filter adapter. Its not as nice looking as Earls fittings but they work with no leaks.

Between the filter and coler the car holds about 1.5qt more ATF so it will stay clean longer. Like 5000 miles after I put the new tranny in im gonna replace the filter and cut this one apart so I can see how much crap is inside.

do you know if i can use this filter thing to clean the tranny to maybe make the slipping better? where exactly did you install yours, is it just on the cooler line? and which one does it matter even?

well they say in the instructions to have it before the cooler so i put it like this.

Trans - Radiator - Filter - ATF cooler - Trans

I will let everyone know if this helps the slipping on her current trans. the only way it would help slipping is if the pressure in the trans was dropping from a clogged ATF screen (which it could be). If your clutches are already worn then its beyond help
