water pump/timing belt

my buddy told me that after 120k miles on my honda civic ex that the waterpump and timing belt needs to be changed. And that its just a ticking time bomb unitil it goes and wrecks the engine. does anyone know if this is true?? any feedback would be great!

Re: water pump/timing belt

What i would do is buy your own oem parts from hondaauttomotiveparts.com and just pay for labor. Parts should be around $150-200 and labor should be no more than 300.

You will need
Timing belt
Power steering belt
Timing beltAc compressor belt
Water pump
Water pump seal
Tensioner
