Unhappy Headlight/indicator problem

Hi, sorry for my first post being a problem one, but if this board is helpful i guess ill be sticking around.

Every time i indicate right, my headlights turn off til i cancel the signal. Only seems to be when its a 'full' indicate rather than just holding the stick up slightly. And it doesnt always do it, just most of the time.

This problem has been intermittent for a good few months, and i (stupidly) worked around it rather than fixed it, due to lack of money.

However, when leaving from work tonight in the dark, its now suddenly got worse, to the point that the headlights are ONLY on when indicating right. So i was forced to drive all the way home with my turn signal on. Dont want to repeat this tomorrow!

2004 model Civic Sport if that is significant (in the UK, though i imagine that is mostly irrelevant)

Thanks for any help you may be able to offer! I know nothing about cars really, but i need to get this fixed, and cant really afford to take it to a garage if it can be avoided!

Re: Headlight/indicator problem

it sounds like some sort of problem with bent wiring or the headlight switch. i would open up the steering wheel covers and have a look. normally turn signals and headlamps use different wiring, but they all come together at the switch.
