Ebay Fog Lights With Hid's??

Has anyone here put hid's on there ebay fog lights? Is it a waste of time? Should regular bulbs be put on better just cause the fogs are from ebay and not oem? etc....

Re: Ebay Fog Lights With Hid's??

i think a big issue will be the glare caused. since the reflectors are not made for HID's and the HID arc will likely be in a different spot than the halogen filament, the light reflection will be wrong and you'll blind oncoming traffic. same reason that PNP kits in OEM headlight housings are horrible.

Re: Ebay Fog Lights With Hid's??

dont forget you will also see the hid bulb completely in the housing, which is gonna blind everyone regardless of optics. you can use it as off road light s but thats about it, and they wont be any good.

Re: Ebay Fog Lights With Hid's??

i have the ebay yellow, OEM look alikes, for a 96 ek. and i was thinking about the same project. .........so it wont matter even if i buy the yellow H3 HID light kit for the housing? will it still b 2 bright and blind everyone?............I saw some mini projectors made specially for fogs so you can put hids on them but i personally like the look of the big yellow bricks. can i upgrade to HID's with the bricks? or do i have to just tough it out with my halogens?

yes, you'll blind everyone. the projectors have cutoff shields in them that prevent the light from going up into people's eyes.

lol doesnt matter, cause the glare is very high. and you can still see the hid bulb. idk if youve ever looked directly at an hid bulb, its pretty bright.

because celica fog lights have a completely different shape and reflector from civic fog lights. that's like saying the celica headlight output is the same as a BMW headlight just because you put HID's in there. NOT THE SAME!

yes, me again, and i'll say it again here:
because there are NO celica lights in the shape of the 01-03 OEM fogs. what's there to compare? this is a civic forum, not a celica forum. and you need to calm down. there's no need to get mad about this stuff. we're here to converse and learn. if you don't want to do that, then find a celica forum.

the cheap OEM style makes them even worse for HID's than true OEM's with decent reflectors. others have tried it and posted their results if you'd search. also, if you'd search, you'd know that i have just a little bit of experience with HID's. i'll leave it at that. i won't stoop to insults like you.

Re: Ebay Fog Lights With Hid's??

well yeah oem puts in more research into their reflectors compared to aftermarket. i can say for sure having ebay headlights right now they are nowhere near as bright and evenly spread as oem beam pattern.

Re: Ebay Fog Lights With Hid's??

^ true that... personally I think my Ebay foglights suck... Really.. their like flood lamps in all directions and aren't powerful enough to light up to where the driver can see over the hood. Useless. If you think they look cool on your car then get them, but dont expect any usefulness out of them as you would any decently engineered fog light.
