I want to put H1 HID bulbs into my TYC's. Is there any modification needed to the projectors in order to do this? Or is it nice and easy just like the putting HID's in stock headlamps?

i've seen results pics where people have done it and the light output is worse than with halogens. the focal point of the HID is different than the halogen. horrible hot spots along the edges and hardly any light in the middle of the beam.

Yes it can. I and many others have done it. Is it worth it? No, but it still can be done.

yes, it can be done. no, dont do it. lol
spend the extra and get do a retrofit. you are going to make a lot of glare over the cutoff that will blind oncoming traffic. check out the forums on hidplanet.com it is by far one of the most informative hid sites i have ever seen. there are DIYs for retrofits for just about every application on there if you search for it.
the good thing a about having the tyc's is that you wont have to do much cutting since it is already designed for a projector. do some measurements to see how big the openings are. there are a lot of people selling hid projectors of all sizes on there for dirt cheap.

only if you do a valeo single beam projector. any other projector is going to require massive cutting. i did a TSX retro into my TYC's and had to chop out a ton of material, design and fabricate my own mounting system, then figure out how to close it all back up. no small feat.

i was referring to using the valeo low beam as opposed to all other low beam HID's. nothing will fit as easy as the valeo. i've got pics of both my retro and my HID fogs. links to the threads are in my sig.

i wouldn't trade my valeo projectors for anything. I was about to just put in some h1 8000k's into my TYC projectors, but I asked around (some of you actually helped) and ended up going with d2s valeos from an Audi a4 and a 4300k kit, amazing output. I can't imagine ever going back to halogen.
Some downsides.. Install was a pain in the neck, I actually used an iron and a wet shirt to seperate the housing (couldn't use an oven). also, aiming them was a nightmare the projectors are very sensitive to adjustment with the setup I used. Also the cost.. TYC lights, valeos, HID kit, wiring... brought me to about $560 said and done.

Sure you can install H1 HID's and the beam is fine! Its not as good as "real" HID projectors but its much brighter. And if you aim them properly you will not blind people!
