Re: HID Pic post!!
well i just bought a full set of d3s hid projectors, bulbs, and ballasts for $150 from jp7 on this forum. i got a pair of used tyc chrome headlamps for $85, and i figure maybe $50 in misc leds and other extras plus making a wire harness. i doubt it will cost more than $300 and thats with an extra set of headlamps since i dont wanna use the stock reflector ones. otherwise i couldve put them in the stock headlights and have a full retrofit bixenon hi/lo for 200. usually 500 is the average if you get really good stuff, but normally projectors sell for $100 a pair, ballasts for $100-150 a pair, and bulbs for $50 a pair. then wire harness supplies and stuff is a lil extra maybe another 50. so it depends what your budget is. you can do a retro for anywhere between 300-500 if you just do some searching for parts and do the work yourself.

Re: HID Pic post!!
Hey Gearbox, i have a question about ur sonar projector housings. About two years ago i got the same housings on eBay and there are a plug and play type deal, no additional parts added. Now my question is, on ur retro i see u have installed the valeo D2S xenon(bulbs i guess???)an upgrade bulb??.And if it is, did u have to get additional parts to support that bulb (that goes into projector) like a ballast or a relay?? Im planning on re-installing my sonar housings , but the existing bulb(in the projector) is crap....soo i wanted to get a setup like urs, something with a bit more light power lol, thanks

Re: HID Pic post!!
no i installed the entire projector from an audi. the whole projector goes in place of the halogen version thats already in there, then you need d2s hid bulb and a ballast for each bulb. its alot of work and the valeos are a bit big for the housings so i could not adjust them once they are mounted in place. and valeo is not really that great of a projector anyway. the problem is space in there is tight, so you dont have much choice. the e46/bosch is a tad smaller and has better light output.

and then I finally started on the TSX + replica lens setup (no shrouds yet!):

When I get my car back, I'll work on completing the retrofit.

Re: HID Pic post!!
Can someone tell me a good HID Kit to buy for my 03 civic. I look on ebay and i see them going for as cheap as $20, so i assume they cant be of the best quality. I searched a bit and i think my bulb size is a 9003 ? i intend to blacken my oem housing so hopefully that will keep the glare down a little. Thinking a 6000K

And as for blackening your headlights, do u mean tint them? I thought that was illegal.

Re: HID Pic post!!
you might get away with headlightarmor.com light smoke and still be able to drive at night with hid retro, but its a waste imo. if you dont drive at night then its prolly okay, like tinting tails. just be sure to upgrade your bulbs (also a waste to me because i would rather have brighter bulbs without any tint).
