Rear fogs??

Has anyone installed any rear fogs??? I would consider installing some if I could find a way to do it where it looks OEM or at least very well integrated. Thoughts???

cars in europe have these.. but they are actually embeded into the rear bumper... I think if you just add foglights to the back it would look funny...

IMO a shop would have to be involved, and it would cost you way too much $

thx for the link imPulse. Unless I kind find a way to flush some lights in I won't be trying this. The only other idea I had was to try and run a couple of 6" Varad (or similar) LED bars right along the bottom edge of the rear bumper on each side. I don't know if LEDs would be bright enough. Thanks for the help.

what would be the purpose/benefit of having rear fog lamps, other than blinding drivers that are following too close for your comfort?

they would not blind the people behind you if they are aimed down... Never heard of foglights acting as headlights

IMO The purpose is for dark road use... When you look in the side mirror you will be able to see if something is next to/behind your car easier.

i dont know... Haha, Audis have this though in europe

Is this (rear fogs) what the second blank switch is for in the panel just above the cupholders in the EX? I know one is for front fog lights, possibly the other is for rear?

the only way to install these would be to get the smallest size light u can find, and drill a hole in your back bumper the exact diameter of the light. stick it in, use some silicon from the inside of the bumper to make shure it stayes there, and then do the wiring.

not worth the hassel

I've been contemplating this myself for those really rainy days. A single light in the rear skirt to give the d00d behind you a better idea of how close you are.

Best example of what I want is the bright red lights on the back of an F1 car during a race in the rain.

man thats f u c k i n g anoying..

here in mexico are a lot of imported eurpean cars, and stupid ppl turn on their rear fog lights.

really pisses me off, they are as bright as braking lights or even more, they hurt, THEY REALLY HURT.

for rain or snow its ok, but not for daily use.

And if you want a real flush with your vic lines, why not import a UK rear bumper, they have "embedded" rear fogs

A rear fog lamp is actually required in most European countries. Here in the states I’m sure it varies from state to state. The standard wattage is 21w. I have seen 35w rear fogs from KCHilites but that appears to be VERY atypical. Here’s a quote from my local motor vehicle law…

“Front fog lamp” means a lamp mounted to provide illumination to the front of a motor vehicle during conditions of rain, snow, fog, dust, or other atmospheric disturbances;
"Rear fog lamp" means a lamp mounted to provide illumination to the rear of a motor vehicle during conditions of rain, snow, fog, dust, or other atmospheric disturbances;
and…
“A motor vehicle may be equipped with not to exceed two front fog lamps and/or two rear fog lamps which shall only be used when visibility, as described in paragraphs 3 and 4 of subsection A of this section, is limited to one-half (1/2) mile or less.”

I believe most areas require visibility to be <500 feet before allowing rear fog lamps to be used. They're only supposed to be used when visibility is REALLY horrible. A number of European cars come to the states with rear fog lamps but they are usually disabled or not supplied with a switch!? MINI’s and Volvo’s both have rear fogs installed but don’t have a switch to turn them on.

Anyway, I’m out; that’s more than I planned on typing all night.

well, did u know that driving with foglights on during a clear night is illegal in some states? Cops just done care... The only problem i see with having rear fogs is people thinking a car is coming towards them (sounds stupid but, I can picture some old woman thinking that as she comes around a turn)

Running fogs (front or rear) in anything but "conditions of rain, snow, fog, dust, or other atmospheric disturbances" when visibility is "reduced to less than 1/2 mile" is illegal here. As far as folks thinking a car is coming towards them... not sure I understand that one. Rear fogs are red so I don't understand how folks could misread that one. Anyway, I think we may have beat this one to death. lol. Thx.
