Is it possible to machine the backside of a d17a1 head so you can mount a vtec solenoid from a d17a2 to it? Just curious. And does anyone have a blue print of a d17a1 head and a d17a2 head or know how I can find one

If you think a good mechanic is expensive, try hiring a bad one

I wouldn't waste time and expense trying to DIY something like that.
You'd need a good VTEC head to rob valvetrain parts from, which would make the entire project kinda pointless.
Just buy a VTEC head.
The A2 block has higher compression pistons in it too.

I have a d17a2 head laying around.. Just the head though; no rocker assembly, valves, seals, bearing caps, etc., but I do, in fact, have a head laying around.
