Help! I put wrong ATM fluid!
Help! I put wrong ATM fluid!
Hi all,
I have a 2012 Civic LX AT, which should use ATF DW-1 fluid (pink), according to my search.
Somehow, I accidentally put 1 qt of HCF-2 (yellow) out of my mind. As soon as I put 1 qt, I realized the color was different.
Based on another search HCF-2 is for CVT, which can/will hurt my car. Now I want to completely drain 1qt of HCF-2 in the car.
I drained the new fluid after a few minutes, but another pink came out. I knew that through the drain plug I could not drain all.
So far I didn't start the engine. Hopefully the new fluid didn't get into the torque converter.
My questions are:
- Is there any way that I can drain or pump out the remaining HCF inside (DIY)?
- If not, how many complete drain/flushes should I do with new ATF-DW-1?
- During the drains/flushes, is it ok not to start the engine or drive the car?
- If I repeat the drain/flushes 3-4 times, will it be enough (the remaining HCF will not hurt my transmission)?
Any comments will be appreciated.
