lol..

a member here with a black vic had a similar shot, it was petty cool..almost made it look like it was drifting..but can't remember if it was a real pic or PS
how can you take a pic like this one?

http://i3.tinypic.com/w03mv7.jpg

dirtySAMURAI 04-20-2006 06:05 PM

rig. i'll try to take one soon. maybe in a month.

drew22mader 04-20-2006 06:30 PM

A good way to tell if a pic has been PS or shot with a rig, look at the Caliper, when the wheel is moving it will show motion blur, and the caliper will stay in teh same place and stay in focus.

Now if someone is good as PS he can make that caliper not move with the motion blur, but if the whole wheel including behind it twirled then its PS. And if the caliper is not moving then 9/10 its shot with a rig or no ps'ing to it.

ramcosca 04-20-2006 06:55 PM

What's a rig and how do I get one?

dirtySAMURAI 04-20-2006 08:42 PM

you cant really get one unless you have enough money for a k20a (jdm engine) swap cause it costs just about $8000 for a really good one.

:_disgust:

:hgrin: Ha! I don't have money to buy my $90 subs, I surely can't afford a DC5 engine, let alone the DC5R u mentioned! I'll just forget about the rig, lol!

:screwy:

... Still, what is it? Got any pics of one?

dirtySAMURAI 04-20-2006 10:05 PM

hahaha i wish i had pictures. there is so much secrecy shrouded around the "rig" that either you make one or you buy one ($200 [my estimate] vs $8000, respectively). i'm going to try to make one this summer break, but no guarantees.

anyways, here's a dead easter egg:

http://www.dirtysamurai.com/images/04-21-06IMG_0049.jpg

i found a link to a pro rig manufacturer: http://www.move-n-shoot.com/

rig is just a some metal or whatever, that makes a type of 'holder' you put the camera in to position it to take a shot without you holding it...like the subaru shot.....kinda like having a tripod 'per-se' for anyyyyyyy kind of shot angle thatneeds you to mount it on something.

ramcosca 04-21-2006 03:56 PM

"dead easter egg"

Ah, I see... so that answered the question I was gonna ask right now.
I was gonna ask if these pictures were rigged... but it seems so. Click on them for big version. http://seriouswheels.com/thumbs-2006...280x960-th.jpg http://seriouswheels.com/thumbs-2006...00x1200-th.jpg

Oh, they have a pic there with a rig, I presume.
Completed pic: http://www.move-n-shoot.com/slidesho...?bildnummer=33
Pic with rig: http://www.move-n-shoot.com/slidesho...?bildnummer=32
Rig and dudes: http://www.move-n-shoot.com/slidesho...?bildnummer=34 (Oh!)
Rig and bike: http://www.move-n-shoot.com/slidesho...?bildnummer=35 (Wow!)
Rig and two bikes this time: http://www.move-n-shoot.com/slidesho...?bildnummer=36

Notice they are numbered and keep on going up... all the rest of the pics are with rigs. That stuff is amazing. Thanks for the website, infinite012.

BTW, they still have to touch up the pictures such as to get the rig out of the picture, right? Only seems logical...
Another thing... the Porsche shot looks amazing. No wonder Porsche always has some kick-ass shots!

I'll never look at car ads the same way, now.

sometimes the photos are touched up others like when the corner or side of the shot has the car in it the rig is usually out of view...

dirtySAMURAI 04-21-2006 04:15 PM

yes, the rig shots are almost always touched up. otherwise they don't look as stunning as the photographer's in-head image.

dirtySAMURAI 04-22-2006 02:44 PM

02civic_rida, did you get a fisheye lens or an adapter (screw on filter)? shots look pretty good

ramcosca 04-22-2006 02:51 PM

Drew: polarizer is filter or in-camera?

Shot looks awesome!

Hey infinite, do YOU have a fisheye?

drew22mader 04-22-2006 02:56 PM

Its a filter that goes over the lens, you turn it to adjust how much you want taken out or left in.

Infinite told me to take multiple shots and then over lap them to get a velvet feel over the the entire hood.

ramcosca 04-22-2006 03:00 PM

Awww sweeeet. I want a DSLR so bad now :(

02civic_rida 04-22-2006 03:07 PM

DREW ur alive!!!! ahhahahhaha i havnt heard from u in a while! the car looks guud and that pic looks pretty guud too!

infinite, yea its just a screw on filter, i cant afford the one i want right now, but my bday is next week, so hopefully i'll get the two lenses i want.

Some more pictures of the Bay Bridge.

Old ramp, you can also see the new columns for new bridge.

New bridge section, see distance from Buildings? Ramp will be finish once old bridge is demolished.

Temporary Bridge. It will be demolished once new bridge is up. Yes lots of money to just demolish.

Drew, very nice pic of the car..I like the effect the polarizer creates.

Very cool Graffiti shots Nick!

This pic is not the best example, but when shooting close ups sometimes the foreground is focused and the background out of focuse and vise versa. Most likely I'm doing something wrong, but after trying many set ups, I can't seem to get a whole close up pic focused..like when having subjects in a close up at diferent distances..

it's called an aperture ;) . if you have a large aperture (lower f-number), your subject will be more isolated from the background. if you have a small aperture (higher f-number), your background will come more in focus with the subject, but it will never all be in focus. if you are trying to take a picture of a vast expanse/field, then you will either have to use a very high f-number and a super long shutter speed, or get a tilt-shift lens and tilt the lens downward so that the plane of focus is perpendicular to the sensor (i think that's right?). in any case, with an slr camera, you will have to use a very small aperture to get the background to come in focus.

civicstyle82 04-23-2006 04:43 PM

I have a pretty basic camera...

Thanks Infinite, that's what my old man was telling me..the f/stop number.
I'll try next time adjusting the F/stop... still debating on which is the best mode to shoot. I usually have it on P..not sure on other cams, I'd imagine is the same, but on this one it chooses A & SP for you. Down side is they can't be adjusted individually so I guess I'd have to shoot on M to do what you suggest.

try focusing more toward the middle of the plants in the picture so the really close and really far are not so out of focus. As it is in that pic you are focused on the really close plants only, so the out of focus plants really can be seen as such.

02civic_rida 04-25-2006 10:40 AM

^^^ not sure if its just me but he is not in full focus, may have moved a little bit, however, what he is focused on is more the middle of the picture... myabe my eyes are going nuts? it is a hard color to tell though.

Would have been a beeter shot if she was closer? she's a make up artist right? other than that, the pic looks great, i must say! great colors and guud lighting.

Caucasian.Asian 04-25-2006 12:13 PM

she isn't the make up artist, her friend is.
i was helping her start a portfolio but i wanted pictures for myself as well. :D

Diskreet, I tried that too, but even after focusing on diferent spots I could never get the whole pic focused which is what I was trying to attain, but I didn't have my tripod either so..could have been that too.

ramcosca 04-25-2006 10:54 PM

I was browsing eBay, dreaming about the camera I'll buy when I get my job and found some interesting things. Since I know you guys here know more than I do, which of these packages is better: Package 1 or package 2? Should I buy the camera as the kit or the body only? (Considering I buy a package like the previous ones posted, which includes two lenses). As for color, I really don't care. It's the same crap inside.

I'm not in a hurry, I just want to know what you guys think. I want to make myself clear before I eventually buy, therefore making the shopping process easier.

Also, another question. In technicaly terms, the 20D is better than the 350D/Digital Rebel XT. Is it really worth the difference?

Thanks!
