custom or store baught exhaust?!?!

right now i have a KIND of bootleg setup... i have a custom 3" dual exhaust on my car... to about the resiantior was... i cut off the pipe right before the resinator to get rid of it an then did a 3" pipe custom dual exhaust... now i was wondering should i add onto that with 2.25" up to the cat? and will that have a HP increase?

also... if i got a header with a highflow cat would that increase the HP... please help me out guys THANX!

Please tell me that you don't have a civic! Dual exhaust and 3" piping is completely pointless on a civic. Can someone say......back pressure?

first off our cars arent mustangs so you dont need that much exhaust diameter, but if you want to get the best for that setup then yes you need to have that size coming from your resonator, but that might not be legal in your area. I dont know if you have to go through inspections or not, but i am guessing no. But your prolly just better off with a cat-back to be honest. like magnaflow, greddy, tanabe, or dc sports

have you ever looked under our car? well the resinator is right behind the muffler practically so i cut the resinatior off and put 3 in pipe... cause it was easy to weld on the muffler that had a 3 in. inlet... ud be surprised on how loud it is cause of the echoing in the 3 in pipe... plus i dont think back pressure matters after the cat!... so can someone help me out on my post?

i dont have a resinator... its in my shed

i cut it off an put the 3 in. pipe back from there... so in relation i only have 3 inch pipe from the middle of the car back and the rest is stock... sooooooooooo i am asking if i should go from the cat... 2.25 and then when it hits the 3 inch pipe.. weld the 2.25 to the 3in... and also that ? about the highflow cat an headers..

2.25 piping is the best to get for our cars. Bigger is not always better.

you can take it to a perfomance shop and they would prolly buy it from you. the re-use that stuff all the time.

I'm not quite understanding your setup so I will describe the best setup I can think of and you can compare it to the one you have. Get an HP Header(comes with a downpipe that replaces the cat) or Kamikaze Header(buy a downpipe like this to go along with it) Then get 2.25" piping from the end of the cat(aka downpipe) back to your muffler. or you can just buy a cat-back system like Tanabe (with comes with 2.25" piping already)

holy crap duel 3" inchers thats MAD

Does it sound like crap??? Some member on here got 3" piping and he says it sounds ricey as hell.

But yes I think you should just get a full catback made for our cars. It will sound better too.

i got 2.5" piping from the catback, and i had the resignator removed.. nice tone! i also have a tenzo-r exhaust. Not ricey at all.. i am sooo anti-rice.. my muffler has more of a deep throaty tone, not a ricey raspy noise.
