does the check engine light effect ur car performance?

when i went 2 the shop to install my headers and make my mid pipe.....they say that they had a censor to turn off the engine check light and they say that the car will perform better because the computer will think thats runing on stock witch is really not.....i think is something like that he explained!...

It shouldn't affect you as much since you have an lx. If you had an ex, the check engine light doesn't allow vtec to engage. But nonetheless, you better get that o2 simulator. Your engine won't perform as optimally without it...

Umm 2k1lxcoupe id wouldnt let them tamper with that check engine deal, check engine has lots of functions and you dont want them to by pass that just for what you might think "better performance" most of the time if they say something like that...they've done something wrong and don't want to tell you the problem hopin you wont know...or...jus tryin to gip you...I went to a shop with my friend and he got headers/pipin installed in his type R and they tried something like that and later had an exhaust leak with a burnt o2 sensor so I dont know what your tryin to do exactly but sounds of it u jus want headers and downpipe or somewhat....jus keep it factory, if there was such thing as doing that I think most of us woulda tried it already...
