Are all transmitions comparable with V-tech and non V-Tech engine, can you swap?

Thinking about getting a V-tech engine from an EX into my LX and I'm wondering if I'll need the transmition too.
I have a manual trani on my car now and I'll like to keep it.
I was told I'll need the car computer as well.
Any suggestions?

Don't waste your money swapping in an EX engine. It's not worth it. But...if you really must...yes, you'll need the EX computer and no, you won't need a new transaxle.

BTW, FWD cars use transaxles and RWD cars use transmissions <-proper spelling.

ignore the flamers... yes it would work, but it's not worth the money for the whole 12-15hp or whatever it is you get.

My engine us using oil and will need some work some time soon any way.

Also I'm thinking on future upgrades on my engine and I thought it will be better to buy one, and work on the internals first with the engine out of the car.
I'll like to port and polish, blue print my engine and get some tatinum valves to replace the originals.
It'll be cool to do all this work while my car is operational and have that extra engine well be sweet.

In that way I won't loose my car for any period of time and when the engine is ready I'll just drop it.
I'm just trying to get a grip on the facts, I have not done any type of internal work on my cars engine and want to be absolutely sure of what I'm doing.
Having V-tech on my engine is not all that important to me, our V-techs don't work as well as with the DOHC engines, this question is not even about V-Tech.

D engines are about $800,00 to $1000.00 new I may be able to get a used one for a lot less.

Thanks for the answers to my question, usually if I get 2 smart answers out 8 I'm doing good.
As for the rest, well, I ask, so I guess I had it coming.

Greetings

He, he, by then I'll be driving a different car.
I'll not buy a new engine cause I'm going to open it up any way.
K24 Is just to rich for my money and I'm not sure it will get any cheaper with time,
some of this hight tech engines are forever on demand and the cost for labor installation will go up for sure at least twice a year.

Um, a mispelling I can understand. But I count 6 times the he has spelled it "Vtech". And even in the marketplace where he is asking for a "vtec" engine, he still spelled it "Vtech"

And another thing........you don't have to know jack squat about car to throw down lots of money and have them modded out to win car show.

I rest my case.

YOU CAN'T HANDLE THE TRUTH..........lol

Hey MangoEX, why don't you go back to your intake will your 20hp to the wheel gains. I can't wait to see how much gains you get when slap on some APC stickers or LED washers nozzles.

What's the matter? Can't you say **** or bitch without putting a period in between it?

Blk4blk2k1, I just want you to know that he started it this time. I was gonna leave the kid alone but he needs to step back and check himself. I'm not gonna back down just to have him try to get his jollies by jumping on me and try to hump my leg.

when you won as many trophies and got as much magazine coverage (superstreet, import tuner, honda tuning and more) as hector, you have the right to say v-tech

Oh, I'm the one who picked on YOU? Yeah, look how many damn times you made reference to my name "MangoEX" during the time I was off the forums. 7 out of 10 of the posts you made made reference to my name, and I let the moderators know. So keep on

Perfectly said Dimsum. And trust me, Fly has his share of mistakes... I've caught so many errors in his grammar and spelling.. for example he spelled Consensus as "Concensous" in an earlier thread. Wanna be picky? Let the games begin

Let's not get started on your mistakes........................

Mango: My car make 12 more hp to the wheels with my CAI.
Us: Dude, how do you know that
Mango: Cause i can feel it
Us: You are lying to yourself
Mango: My friends say that my car is way more powerful now
Us: How would they know?
Mango: Cause it sounds awsome
Us: Sound does not equal power
Mango: I'm gay
Us: Well at least we agree on something

bwahaha. geez talk about rivalry going on.

the toy pics are funny but give it a rest already. who cares if he calls it vtec, vtech v-tech.

he's obviously spending more time out working on his car, showing it off.. then being on a board flaming people.

personally I dont think its worth the swap but if u can do it with little cost then maybe. but its still not worth it even if u can spend only a grand or less.

its probably better to just grab the head of the D17A2 and slap it on the D17.. and wire the ECU and other necessities for VTEC.

the tranny should be the same but er.. gear ratio is different.. hmm. uhh, maybe someone can give more info on that.
