Cheapie Oil Cooler Idea...

Taken from Sport Compact Car: Hybrid How-To: 2002 Civic Si:

[hr]Higher output means more heat rejection. The RSX has a coolant-to-oil heat exchanger plumbed in at the base of the oil filter to help offset the increased heat load.[hr]

We'de need parts 10, 11, and 14. Plus we'de need to hook it up to the coolant lines. All three parts from Acura Automotive Parts cost about $120, but if you could get it at a junkyard then you'de have a nice little oil cooler.

Grey, your the man. That looks intresting. I wonder how hard it would be to run the coolent down to the exchanger. Other than that, It seems pretty straight foward. good job

Why not bypass the coolant line running to the throttle body
and use that? Might work, right?

I think so, although I'm not sure if the hoses are the same diameter? Probably not. Smaller on the TB and larger on the oil cooler.

looks cool but wouldnt the stock filter location not have enough room for that cooler thing, since it makes the filter stick out more??

Depends on the filter you use I guess, but there's plenty of room there. All of the filters for our cars should fit. Well, maybe that HAMP filter could have problems...
