1.5" is hardly a drop and anything up to 215-45-17 should fit fine. i would go with 205-45-17, closest to stock, 205-40 is too thin, 215-45-17 is too thick. brand, alot of people like kuhmo 712s or yoko paradas but i personally like falkens. cheap, nice tread design, long lasting tires..

I say 215/45/17 especially if you have an EX or your speedo will be off.

I am glad I found this post because I was also thinking about doing a 1.5 drop on my whenever I get my 17s this coming next month or so. So there shouldn't be any probs with a 215/45/17 tire right? (i.e. turning...potholes (yikes)...etc etc??) thanks!

i'm doing the same exact thing with the 1.5 drop. the guy at the mom and pop tire shop says that the 45's would be too big and wouldn't fit, but discount tire says they would be just fine and wouldn't rub.

I'm going to get 215/45/17 because of the higher sidewall so I won't sacrifice my wheels when I hit a damn pothole and it will have a better ride than the 40's.

CivicChick02: yeah!! i was told the exact same thing by discount tire when I went last week about the 215/45s and thats one of the reasons why I don't want to lower so much and have good amount of sidewall because here in LA..roads aren't that great!! especially in my area.

Come on! There arent THAT many potholes in so cal. Just drive carefully and sober. 45s are just too big for 17s. they dont look right. how about 215/40/17?

I just got wheels and tires put on yesterday. We went with the 215/45/17 and it looks really good. Not too high and not too low sidewall and it really doesn't make the gap look so bad. So now we can go around looking okay until i get some springs to kill the gap just a little more.

Paid $900 total for rims and tires.

hmm!! thanks for letting me know ...i cant wait to get my wheels and tires this coming week...im currently talking to discount tire and im waiting on a quote. dropping it depends all on how my car looks after the new wheels and that gap you say isnt so bad.
