ormal?check engine light blinkins

When i start my car the check engine light blinks 10 times....is this normal? I got the car new in July and didn't ever notice the blinking until a few days ago but i'm pretty sure it didn't do this before.

Depends on what you KM/miles are on the car ... when it gets close the the regular scheduled maintanence time ... The blinking is a warning ... it will first start to blink ... then lets say around 12000km (if it is a scheduled time) the engine light will stay on telling you to get it in for scheduled maintanence.

It just does this to warn you to save up Ca$h for a scheduled maintanence ... I skip the small one's and will only get the big one's done. I mean the charge you $100 CDN to jack it up @ the first maintanence time to basically say "yah its fine ... bye ... give me money now !!!"
You can find the maintanence schedule in the manual that comes with the car.

It starts to blink at around 8,000 miles and then at about 10,000 miles it will stay on solid. This is scheduled to come on like this. If you take it to the dealership they will just turn it off, they should do it when you take your car in to change your oil.

You can turn it off yourself. It tells you how in your manual.

Thanks for the info. My car has 8,400 miles on it right now. I guess i should take a look at my manual again now. I got my oil changed over 3,000 miles ago but i didn't get it done at the dealer.

IDQcivic should not be trusted
you guys are talking about the "maintenance required" light, that should blink around 8000 miles and stay on around 10000 until you reset it.. if your check engine light is blinking, then you have some serious problems!!!

yes yes, maintencance required light. Is there even a check engine light in civics? I'm used to saying check engine because my previous car it as on every other day for about 6 month, each time being a different problem. That's why i bought a new car

I read the manual and fixed the "problem", now the maintenance required light is no longer on...thanks....

Maintainance light = idiot check for ppl who only change their oil when their car tells them to I change mine around 3k but no later than 5

Check engine light = Git yo to the shop asap. Something is really wrong.

Bingo.... There's 2 lights.
Maintainance Required = Honda wants your money to look at something that isn't broken just because of what your odometer says.
Check Engine = Something's messed up

Heres how to shut it off (takes less than 30 sec.)
With the key off, push the trip odometer reset button.
Then turn the key until the dash lights come on (DO NOT START THE CAR)
keep holding the trip reset and the "Maint Reqd" light will flash and eventually shut off.
When it shuts off, turn the key off
Last release the trip reset.

That's it.

HAHAHA it's pretty obvious itsself isn't it? Check Engine light means Check the Engine.....therefore you should bring it to the Dealer for them to "check the engine"....

Maintenece is the one you don't panic over.. cause it's nothing
