what can i say i know jack when it comes to ICE
I want to upgrade my system to like decent state like most people i'm not a bass junky i jsut want soemthign louder than what i got so i coudl hear the music when the windows are open and i'm going 90. Second i was thinking about putting in infinitykappa 693.5i in the back and infinity kappa 63.5i for the front. and a pioneer hu Pioneer DEH-P6400 i got prices for all three total will be a lil under $450 good price? but after reading all the different posts i'm not to sure of what to do.
question 1- Some say no 6x9 is better invest in nicer front speakers instead. is that true and why?
question 2- Will the infinity 62.5i fit in my car mounting depth is 2 3/16" or do i need to mod? are there any good front speakers i can get without modding? just drop in or do the better speakers require some modding?
question 3- what you think of the setup should i get an amp also? any suggestions welcomed.
sorry i want to pm mowhawkboom but he's gone.

1. Invest in some good quality front component speakers and amp them with a 2 channel amp. A nice set like JL XR's or Focal Polyglass for around $250, and $200 or less for a good 2 channel amp.
2. Most speaker installs will require mounting mods because the speaker depths in the front are very shallow. Homemade, or store bought spacers will be necessary for the front speakers.
3. An amp will greatly improve the sound quality and volume that your stereo can put out. If you just get components up front, get a 2 channel. If you want to amp all 4 speakers get a 4 channel.
I have Focal Polykevlars up front and Kenwood Excelon 6x9s in the back, amped with an MTX 6304 4 channel. I like the sound quality and volume of this setup. Hope this helps.

with what he said about the fronts everything is true. but you can get a 2 chanel amp and just run them instead of a 4 chanel amp so your spending less money there. and then don't buy any 6X9's so your savign money there too. with around 75 to 100 watts on some components up front you don't need rears. Plus its such a pain to tear apart the rear deck. so you'll wast e few hours workin on the rear just to put in 100 spkrs you just bougth and then fade to the front so there arn't so harsh... its just not worth the time or money and it throws off the imaging. So like he said a really nice set of components up front. make sure where u buy them you have a good warranty and a good 2 chanel amp and then your set. then just crank it up.

cool cool good info. so the front componets very important. ok i could see how the front could handle both high and mid maybe save money for maybe a 12" sub. aite cool cool. but . about the 6x9 GCRG says that i should upgrade them and amp it and ben says dont' bother. the rear fill sucks anyway and it actually does more harm then good.. hmmm who two trust. a black civic emblem or a half naked guy.? hmmmmm
le't s just see what aother people have to say but man i appreciate your input. any recomendations on an amp. i think i'll get the 2 channel. so that if i want to add a 12 inch sub later i could add a seperate amp..

i upgraded my 6x9's, but only slightly - i got $20 pioneers that run 30 rms and like 100 max and run them off my HU. it provides slightly more power in the rear, and i plan to get a pair of infinity kappas hooked up to a 2-channel amp for the front. if i need more bass, i can get a sub later.

aite i'm shopped aroudn with all your suggestions and decided to get some focal 165k. powered by a 200 watt 2- channel mtx 4202. Yeah and i read soem more abotu installation and well. i guess i'll figure the rest out. thanks a bunch guys

Hey, i have the 165k's, i am feeding them 75 watts at 4 ohms, Focal says they are 2.9 ohm speakers so technically it is more. I really like the sound quality, a big improvement over my Polk EX3's. You won't be dissapointed, good luck. PM me for any install help if you want.

Fitting in Focal speakers requires a bit of modifications to your door.. like a 7/8" Spacer and using a dremel to file away the speaker ring on the door panel.. might want to reconsider unless you wann put in the effort....DEI (dorected electronics) Studio components drop right in...sound very awesome..and is an easy install for about the same price. I would highly reccomend just dithing the rear speakers.. disconnect them entirely and invest in a solid amp and good front components...
