So put new wheels on, then align or align then put on wheels?

My wheels are coming in on Friday. I did a search and found this one which was most informative but I'm still confused. HERE I read that this dude got his rim scratched during the alignment. So my question is, with my stock wheels right now, if I get it aligned, then put on my new 17" wheels, will it be ok? Or should I just put the wheels on then get it aligned? I mean my car is lowered so I'm gonna get alignment and my camber install no matter what, so I'm just wondering wut process is best. So confusing... thanx guys...

I would align then puit on the wheels...remember the poeple doing the alignment don;t care about your stuff that you paid money for so they wont take any precaution to keep from dinging or scratching your belongings.

you shouldn't need an alignment unless you bought camber kits and tires that you bought are smaller than stock. Other than that you should not need to align the car. It would be nice, but not recommended. If you were lowering your car and it involved removing the stock struts, maybe then you will need an alignment. Do you align your car when you change a tire or rotate your tires?

i dont agree with that at all- i took my car for an alignment right after i got my rims and they were very professional about it.. they made the point to check struts, camber, etc. that could be different with new wheels.. they understood that i'd just gotten my wheels and made sure my car looked and drove well...

You shouldnt neeed an alignment already. but you should always make 1 change at a time. so if you screw up, you know what the problem is.

You don't need an alignment if you are just replacing the wheels.

You need an alignment if you have lowered the car, taken the struts and springs out for any reason, or installed camber kits.

There is no reason to get an alignment because you have upgraded your wheels and tires.

sounds good then. I talked to the tech guy today and he said that it would be ok if I put the wheels on and then got it aligned. The pieces that attach to the wheels are made of nylon, so they wont scratch. I'm still questioning though. I'll prob do it on Saturday before HIN. $105 for camber install and alignment too. I just hope they dont scratch my rim. Man I still want to just leave my stock ones on there, get it aligned, and then come home and then slap on my new ones.... iono...thanx guys!!!
