Help with valve cover gasket replacement
Help with valve cover gasket replacement
Acura dealership here had free vehicle inspection on for a day and I went for it. It turned out that valve cover gasket has a minor leakage, near one of the spark plug tube. I have driven the car for more than 6000 KMs and was planning to do an oil change next week anyway. Checked the oil and it is exactly between max and minimum mark on the dipstick. I will need to drive about 1500 KMs next weekend. I am not very confident and never done this much of repair work on my car but looking at various videos, it looks not very difficult. I also checked with a car mechanic here and he said its a 1-1.5 hours job. Since it is a very minor leakage at this point, am I better off just changing the oil for now and replace the gasket two weeks later when I have some time? Will keep checking the oil level just in case. Or is it recommended to replace it now?
Also, I checked various forum posts and I am still not sure if I need to use gasket sealant. Is gasket sealant needed for this gasket replacement?
Vehicle is a 2003 Acura EL 1.7.
Thanks

Re: Help with valve cover gasket replacement
as long as the leak does not increase, for now just check the dip stick before/after the long drive and weekly.
the sealant need to be applied to the sharp edges around the camshaft
