Help with oil leak
Help with oil leak
My 05 Honda Civic had this pesky oil leak, I have had a good amount of work done to this car and can rule out a few things , but I am wondering if there is something else other than front main seal
this is clearly the front of the engine , in the 1st pic, where that big oil droplet is, that is the front timing cover , hence why I suspect it’s a front main
new head gasket and new cam seal and I also replaced oil pan gasket
if more pics are needed, let me know
it leaks quite a bit of oil and it literally gets allllll over my frame and drips everywhere , not just in one spot , I am suspecting the front main seal, but I’d like to hear other peoples point of view before 350 dollar repair
Re: Help with oil leak
Likely the front main seal. There is also a little rubber o-ring between the oil pump and block (right on the other side of the timing belt) but that usually leaks oil more towards the rear driver side corner of the engine. You could do both at the same time to be safe. o-ring requires oil pump removal, which requires oil pan removal. Both seals require the timing belt be removed.
I know you said camshaft seal was replaced but you could always remove the upper timing belt cover to confirm it isn't running all the way down the block behind the covers.
