Engine temperature high warning

Hello all,

I have a 2014 Civic 1.8 petrol and my temperature gauge keeps rising rapidly then fluctuating. It has even reached the engine temp high red line with the system warning.

This is normally when driving at low speed or idling and seems worse with heater air con on.

It is not losing coolant and oil is fine so I am at a loss as to what it could be. Could it be a sensor?

Many thabks in advance.

It sounds like your thermostat may be stuck open. Does it read low on the highway?

Re: Engine temperature high warning

Check the thermostat as stated earlier, and check that the fans are working properly

Re: Engine temperature high warning

carry a temperature gauge for the next time it "overheats" so you can check if it is really overheating? might be too late by then, though
