2003 Civic LX 126K miles. Shaking ONLY during cold startup ( Cold weather only )

Hey fellas,

So my car shakes and makes boom boom sounds for about 5 seconds only during cold startup (Cold weather) then my car works perfectly. My engine light comes on and off depending on how often I start my engine during cold startup. If I check the OBD scanner when my check engine light is on. It shows Misfire cylinder 1.

I have brand new:
Battery
Alternator
4x Spark Plugs
4x Coil packs
Radiator

I googled and people said it might be a bad fuel injector causing this. Does it make sense? I tried redline fuel injector cleaner twice and it doesn't seem to help.... I'm not a mechanic and I don't want to spend too much money on fixing things especially this old car if I can't pinpoint this issue.

Does anybody knows or has this issue and got it fixed?

Please help.

Thanks.

New plugs and coils should rule out anything spark related, but not definitely.

It could be a bad fuel injector, but my guess would be a compression related problem. Do you know how to compression test? Have access to a tester?

lol nope, I don't. I don't want to get fuel injectors to fix and still have the issue. it does eliminate one of many possible causes but spending money to get to the core issue on a 2003 honda is not worth it for me right now.

How much oil does it burn? That’ll be a good indicator of if your compression is crap or not.

It doesn't. My oil level is fine. I checked in the morning before turning on my engine and after normal operating temperature. So that rules out the compression test? That's a good new then.... Can somebody explain how cold startup effects the fuel injector? it doesn't open up properly during cold weather if it's bad?

I can't explain what cold weather does to fuel injectors, but I have a theory that won't cost you much...

I know that an EGR valve that is slightly stuck open due to carbon buildup will cause an engine to stumble and sometimes stall. It doesn't really explain the Misfire Cyl #1 code, but it is a very cheap repair (only costs a few dollars for a new EGR gasket and some carb/throttle cleaner). Just remove the EGR and clean the ports real good.

Cleaning the throttle body may help also, and you shouldn't even need a new gasket for that.

I've seen gummed up air/vacuum ports cause engine stumbling issues before.
