I'm not exactly 100% sure if my FN1 Civic (2010) is operating on the VTEC correctly... as car feels a little sluggish throughout revs .
I checked the spool valve solenoid for continuity using a meter and its also reading 16 Ohms resistance, both these tests were good results.
However, i tried the manual "click" test by placing a wire from + on the battery, to the + terminal on the solenoid (as if to activate it) but nothing happened.
Perhaps i should have grounded the other solenoid terminal first ? I didn't try this in case i blew something up lol....
I should mention that there are no engine management lights on, but a light did briefly come on once or twice in the past year, but never since....
nothing as yet, only got the car just before lockdown. it was regularly serviced. Since lockdown I have done nothing as i only did about a 1000 miles (in a year).
oil is clean and i only put a k&n air filter in to replace the original.
I have bought a gasket / filter for the solenoid and will take it off next weekend to see if ihas any internal issues. Just wanted to know if it can be "click-tested" in-situ, before doing that.
Maybe im just expecting too much from this car since i sold my 2.0L Turbo (chipped and tuned) Laguna ?
