2012 Honda Civic Hybrid will not start. Cranks once. Not seized
A few days ago my car shut off completely during it's auto shutoff feature at a stop light. I turned the key and it started back up fine. Yesterday the same thing happened during the auto shutoff and it wouldn't start back up and hasn't since. Originally thinking it was a deadbattery cell I had a replacement put in but still no luck. I also had the starter replaced and the issue persisted. The engine will crank once and then nothing. Me not knowing anything about cars I had a friend look at it and he said that he can manually turn the engine backwards but something stops it from turning forwards. It will not turn forward. Too him it would seem to be some type of mechanical lockup but with it being a hybrid it could be something different. I was wondering if anyone has had a similar issue or has a clue what might be the culprit? Again car cranks once then no further. Engine can be manually turned backwards but not forwards and the starter and battery have both been replaced with the problem persisting after each replacement. I guess I should say the car is receiving plenty of power as well! Thanks!

I have exactly zero experience with any Honda hybrid so I'm not sure what's normal. Trying to rotate the engine and it gets stuck definitely doesn't sound normal though. Maybe someone with a bit more experience can chime in.
