symptoms of bad strut mounts??

my current setup -
GC sleeves with tokico dspec struts.

My front end bottoms out really hard when i hit a small to medium bump. My dspecs are not blown i already pulled them out and checked. My upper front strut mounts are damaged. The rubber where the bearings are completed shredded and ripped on both mounts. Will this cause my front end to bottom out? knock when i hit bumps in the road? cause my front end to hop sometimes? Just looking to clear certain things up. im in the process of getting these fixed this weekend anyways. I just need some input.

Thanks.

Re: symptoms of bad strut mounts??

A knock sound when hitting bumps can indicate a bad strut mount but it bottoming out sounds like another issue.

Do you have the OEM springs or is this a lowered after market setup? Struts leaking ? What you really need is the OEM springs and struts back. Then you would have a good system.

Re: symptoms of bad strut mounts??

If the rubber is worn out this will cause noise and probably damage, this rubber needs to be replaced or upgrade to poly urethane if available.

knocking sound could indicate bad ball joints. I found today this is the reason in mine 2001 EX both sides. Duralast **** lasted less than 2 years.

Do you know how to check for blown shocks? Blown shocks can appear completely normal by the eye, even if leakage isn't showing. That's why you don't use GC, you gotta pay to play.
