KYB OE Replacement strut

Hi guys, so I need to replace the rear struts on my em2. Not looking to drop just yet because I don't have the finances for that, but I wanted to know, does anyone have KYB struts? I'm specifically looking at the Excel-g model. From my reading, KYB is a decent brand but most people recommend going with the GR2s. I'm just looking for an affordable replacement which is why I was looking at the excel-gs. If anyone has them or had them and can give their opinions I would really appreciate it!

After reading I found that yes, the gr2 and excel g are the same thing. Harsh in winter? Is it going to be stiffer then stock being that they are gas struts?

Re: KYB OE Replacement strut

Its going to be stiffer then stock trust me specially in the winter. If I were you I would get tokico blues they are a little bit better (Just a little). If you want oem ride get oem shocks if your welling to pay around $430ish on OEM http://www.hondaautomotiveparts.com
Plus I think you have 04 civic which should have a better shocks than the 01 02s and remember they are not interchangeable

How many miles on your car? What makes you think you need to change the struts ?

I was thinking tokicos, but they are not a stock replacement. And oem ones are out of the question at 430. I'm in a very tight financial situation right now which is why I was looking at the kybs. $65 a strut. And I think the ones are bad because when you do the bounce test, the rear end bounces like a bobble head. The car has 170k on it. I've had it since 112k. They may very well be the original ones.

Re: KYB OE Replacement strut

well if you like the KYBs i have the rear set and I can sell both to you for $75. I had them for less than a year and maybe 6 to 7000 miles on them than I switched to Tokicos. You will only need the front KYBs.

Do I need to switch the fronts? They seem to be fine.

Re: KYB OE Replacement strut

If they are fine I don't think its a good idea to mix oem with after market. I would either get rear OEM ones only or buy front KYB to have matching set.
