rack ur brains on this 90 dx hb no fuel prob, plz help!!!
Hi everyone, i have been working on cars since i was 15 and in all my years never had this much of a headache. So i bought a 90 dx hb 1.5 manual that was pretty much a rollin shell with the motor in it of a friend for $200 and it ran before they took pieces off to use on another honda. I currently got it all back together and tried to initially tried to fire it up before i put more money into gettin the gas tank put in, sprayed starting fluid down the throttle body (its the lame dual point pgm-fi) and she fired right up, sounded healthy and everything was on track. Got the tank, new fuel pump and lines for connecting the tank into the car, put 3.5 gallons of gas in the tank (it was bone dry and clean inside) and wasnt getting any fuel to the filter. So i started researching what might be the culprit of my problem and seen a lot of people having to replace the main relay and it cured there problem. I got a new relay and can now hear the pump kick on properly and still no fuel to the motor. so i tried hot wiring the pump and it defiantly pushes fuel. So i put the rear up on jack stands and dropped the rear of the tank to see if mabey the filter had become clogged and it was good. Did find a wire that was mickey moused together tho, so i fixed that and tried to start it. low and behold it fired right up and ran sweet!!! So i put the gas tank back in it, put her back on the ground and nothin... i hear the pump coming on like it should... nothin... i can still get it to run by putting gas down the throttle body. Id really hate to just abandon the car as its in awesome condition for a 90, any suggestions or hints, tips, anything that could point me in the right direction. I hope its just not my mind over processing things and it just needs more gas, but 3.5 gallons should be enough to get it started on its own right???

Pinched fuel hose or something?

Thank you for the reply, everything seems to b in order, no pinches. Im wondering if maybe the fuel pressure regulator is not allowing the the system to pressurize the system. On another note my cel never comes on at all, need to take the dash apart somehow and see if the bulbs blown... Hopefully lol

I gotta ask because it seems to abvious, The fill hose was off the tank when you dropped it right? If it is not a kinked line or wire, try leaving off the gas cap and see what happens. It's one of those things you look for last, air.
IT will stop an engine pretty quick if no air is getting into the tank. Then after a few minuts enough fuel will vaporise and it will run again.
Just a 2:30 am kind of thought.
