06 slow to heat up

The 06 I bought last summer seems to take a really long time to get up to normal temp, according to the gauge on the dash. By long I mean maybe 5+ miles of city driving. That's much longer than my old CRV. So I'm asking if this is normal for this car or maybe I need a new thermostat or ???

Yes its been cold here in Wisconsin lately. My wife runs the heater full blast.

At those low temps, and with fan at max it may never reach 9 segments.

Re: 06 slow to heat up

It has got to be cold in Wisconsin!! It's been really cold where I am.

As far as I know there is no wrong amount of time for an engine to warm up, there are a lot of variables.

Re: 06 slow to heat up

Sounds normal.

I have a 12. Same basic engine as an 8th gen.
My drive to work is 5.6 miles, 2 miles of stop and go and the rest is like one mile bursts of 40-50 MPH.
In the winter, mine does not reach operating temp in that short drive.
It's +8*F here right now.

My Buick with the 3.8L produced noticeable heat from the heater much quicker than this Civic...... But it burned a lot more gas to do it.
