03 Civic Rear Defrost Not Working

O3 Civic EX 4 door.
Defrost light lights up, but no power to rear window defrost contacts.
Fuse is OK.
Now what?

Leave key at II engine off and have someone cycle the defroster button several times while listening and touching the defroster relays plastic case. Listen for click from it.

Find another relay with same #s printed and swap the 2 and test.

Re: 03 Civic Rear Defrost Not Working

^^^ Yes, It is somewhat by itself, near the center at the rear (best I can see, don't have my 05 any longer) near a group of 6 fuses that run ___ with the front.

Should be other relays with same printed # on case to swap with.

Try your lid though it is likely faded badly.

Think I told you wrong the relay is not like others.

At least listen and touch case will attempting defroster, and remove and re-install it a couple of times then try it.

I was looking at it as you were writing and found. It does click when turning the defrost on and off

Re: 03 Civic Rear Defrost Not Working

On the sedan both the power and ground side of the defroster grid run through the "antenna module" the black box under rear deck in trunk. When defroster is on you should have + voltage at the SINGLE PIN connector (black wire, but others are shown as black in the 2 pin connector also)

Checked this and found to be unplugged. This is my mother's car that she bought new and I'll have to ck with her and see if it ever worked. No way it got unplugged accidentally!

Much appreciate your time to help me, Mike

Re: 03 Civic Rear Defrost Not Working

Not sure if that would effect radio reception (likely not)

Glad you got it solved pretty easily.
