03 LX Airbag Light
Honda said they would charge $150 to look at the problem and that it could cost up to $1200 or it could be nothing. I read some about reseting the SRS. If the problem is real, I don't want to just hide it by reseting the switch. If there is a real problem will the light come right back on?

Yes, after you reset the light it will come back on if there is a problem and it was not fixed. Mine came on and I reset it, and have not seen it again. I think on my car someone leaned on the door and set the door sensor off.

I had the airbag light come on in my 03 lx and they found it to be an issue with the passenger side seatbelt and since that's under Honda's lifetime warranty it's being fixed for free. Might be worth just having it checked at the dealership.

I know this is not the right thing to do. I pulled the instrument cluster and covered the air bag light with black tape because my car goes through yearly safety inspections. It can be very difficult to solve a wiring problem.

Sounds like you crashed the plane before you ever got on board.
You don't even know what's wrong and you already buried the patient.
Wiring problems are a cakewalk for someone good with electricity.
Probably about 75% of mechanics aren't good though.
Airbag/SRS related wiring would be replaced (most of the time) as per the manufacturers guidelines for SRS repairs. (Liability concerns dictate this.)
Most just need a buckle.
There are tutorials for retrieving codes and clearing them, just search. You gotta be able to see the SRS light though.

I dont understand. Ive had 5+ SRS components diagnosed/replaced at my honda dealership for FREE. It's just a matter of sweet talking the service manager lol
