fuel gauge issue
fuel gauge issue
I suspect it is the sending unit, but I wanted to run it by forums to see what others had to say. On my way home, I noticed that I was low on fuel. The gas light came on. After refueling, I got into the car and started the engine. The fuel gauge remained near empty. After 20 minutes of driving, it finally made it to full. I checked the gauge cluster using the sweep test and the fuel gauge moves without problem. If it is the sending unit, would I need to replace the entire fuel pump assembly? In other words, is the sending unit a part of the fuel pump itself or can it be replaced seperately? Thanks guys!

Re: fuel gauge issue
Mine has been the same way for the last four years since I have owned it (2001 LX).
I think it is simply due to the pressure difference leveling out after the fuel cap is removed/installed.
I did replace the fuel cap recently due to a leaking seal and broken clutch but I have not been able to monitor the fuel level after fill because it's my wifes' daily car.
