Flooded, Seat Belt SRS Tensioner Ruined?
Flooded, Seat Belt SRS Tensioner Ruined?
I have a 2005 Civic LX Sedan, and it just went through a baptism. Water got into the car deep enough to submerge the explosive charge device on the inboard seat belt latch. I disassembled the car down to bare metal, and everything is drying out very nicely, but I do not know if I should replace these SRS belt tensioners. The dealer wants about $200 each for them, and Majestic Honda won't ship them so I can't buy them online.
Should they be replaced as a precaution?
I am replacing the SRS module, as it got water in it and I do not want to run any risk of accidental airbag deployment.

have you checked junkyards? or people parting out cars, i know there are a few on this site.

Looks like people want to sell the whole seat, not just the seat belt latch. It's bolted to the seat, so I can understand that.
Looks like I'll need to buy new. But my original question was: Are they ruined because they were submerged?

That was just me personally. Maybe a Junkyard will sell you one. For me its hard to sell a whole seat without the latch. I dont believe there is any electrical with that piece.(Other then beeping when cars in park and its not attached) It simply holds the buckle in place while your driving. So it should be fine. Just make sure your seatbelt itself is working correctly.
