Fog light wiring issue

Before I get to the question, a little bit of background info (which may or may not be important so just skip down if you feel like it).

I know very very very little about electrical stuff/wiring/how circuits work. In fact, during this project I learned what relay was so please bear with me. About a month ago I bought fog lights thinking it wouldn't be this complicated. From the beginning I had every intention to have my friend help me with it though, (who's basing his career in electricity so he's uber good with this stuff) so I wasn't worried about it. We got to it and spent the first day putting the lights in, then the 2nd day we ran all the wires and got 99% of it done. The wires were ran though the firewall. The grounds are in place and everything is done except for a single plug.

Before putting the wires in the car, we hooked it up to a 12v power source that he made (yup he made his own and it's sweet cause it can be set to different voltages and has a display and everything... but back on topic). The whole system worked perfectly except I had no idea how and even he thought it was strange that it worked the way it did. It was something like 3 wires connected to one end and only 1 to the other. Anyway, not important (I hope). So with his help all of the wires were ran from the lights, through the firewall on the passenger side, then to the back of the head unit area.

Because I have a sunroof, heated mirrors and I didn't want to lose my CC button, I opted to have the switch placed just above the cup holders in one of the two plastic pop-out pieces. No problems there and I'm only mentioning it because the ground wires were hooked up in places behind there.

Anyway, to the question now. The last plug to be plugged in is the "ignition" plug (and the fog lights wont work without it). According to the DIY on our forums (here) I should have two plugs to plug in under the steering wheel (fuse box?) but I only have one (2nd last picture in the DIY). I doubt that we did anything wrong because my friend knew what he was doing and we had it working on his kitchen floor, so I have no reason to doubt him. And, it seems like every DIY for this is different so there must be multiple ways to get this working. I'm not sure where to plug in the final plug. Here's a picture of it, and where we already tried to plug it in. Note that we had to to expose the connection in the fog light plug because it's so cheap that it wouldn't get a good connection.

The fogs worked when plugged into here except that the illumination light on the fog light switch was always on (come to think of it, I didn't take the key out of the ignition so I don't know if it's on or off when the key is out). By illumination light I don't mean the light on the switch to say the fogs are on, I mean the light the lights up the switch for night time driving.

Sorry for the long thread but I hate leaving out details then having to answer questions for the first 10 posts. Also I would just finish the job with my friend but it's hard to find free time for both of us and right now he's in another province for the week.

So where should I plug the plug in and god please tell me I don't have to rewire anything because I won't be able to.

PS I thought about posting this in ICE and Electrical but it's 99% audio there, so I posted it here for something more general.
