Timing Belt or Chain

Ok guys I have looked around for a bit now and I have had mix answers about my 2005 civic Si 4 Door Sedan. Some people tell me its a chain and others tell me its a belt. If someone can please clear this up for me that would be great. My car currently has 137k on it and if it has a belt im sure its due for a new belt.

Re: Timing Belt or Chain

if it's a 4-door sedan and the engine was not swapped to a K-series, it's a belt.
Since you call it Si, you are in canada, right?
US - EX, Canada - Si.
chain is in the K-series engine, which are originally in the US - Si, Canada - SiR models

Re: Timing Belt or Chain

Thanks for the reply's guys.

Yes im from Canada and yes its a d17 engine(Was thinking of doing a swap on it but come summer time I'm more then likely getting a 2011 Si. Are you sure it was due at 100 000 km's my dealership told me 160 000. Either way I am at 137 and will most likely get it changed shortly.
